Given a few days prior to the feast day of of St Thomas Aquinas, Rev. Dr. Alan Adami OP delivered a deeply considered and interesting presentation in St Mary's Tallaght on Monday 26 January titled 'The Christology of St Thomas Aquinas in the 21st Century' and you can watch it here
Rev. Dr. Adami is warmly remembered by the Irish Province, where he completed his undergraduate theological studies at the Irish Dominican Studium, a period that shaped both his intellectual formation and his Dominican vocation. His years in Ireland left a lasting impression on him, and he remains held in high regard by those who accompanied him during his early academic and religious journey.
He went on to pursue advanced studies at the Pontifical University of St Thomas Aquinas in Rome (the Angelicum), where he recently defended his doctoral thesis. His research focuses on Christology, Anthropology, and Grace—areas in which he has developed a strong academic profile and continues to contribute through teaching, writing, and public lectures.
A professed member of the Order of Preachers, Rev. Dr. Adami has served the Dominican family in various capacities. He is currently the Prior of Our Lady of the Grotto Priory in Rabat, Malta, where he oversees the life and mission of the community. Alongside his responsibilities in the convent, he is frequently invited to lecture at institutes and universities, sharing his expertise with students, clergy, and lay audiences.
Known for his clarity of thought and commitment to the Dominican intellectual tradition, he continues to be an active presence in academic and ecclesial circles.
A new public event has been added to the calendar this year, the inaugral annual lecture in honour of St Catherine of Siena to be given by Sr Catriona Kavanagh OP on 27 April at 7.30 pm in St Mary's Priory, Pope's Quay, Cork.
