It is with sadness and a heavy heart that I write to inform you that our beloved friend and colleague, Philip McShane OP, died on Wednesday 18 October after a long and brave battle with cancer. I know that you will join me in praying for the happy repose of his soul. May he rest in peace.
Philip worked as a full-time member of staff at the Priory Institute since 2012. Before that, during his term as Novice Master, he led weekly reading seminars here at the Institute. He served in several roles at the Institute: member of the management team, member of the Academic Council, programme leader for the BA in Theology, programme leader for the MA in Aquinas Studies, IT officer and, more recently, he was overseeing the expansion of the library. Indeed, he was busily engaged in that activity until two days before he died. He will be a great loss to the Institute and to the Irish Province of the Dominican Order. I know that many confreres, students, parishioners and friends will be heart-broken to learn of his death.
Eternal rest grant unto Philip, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
Yours in Christ,
Revd John Littleton
Director
