fr Peter O’Kane OP

fr Peter O’Kane OP is a member of the Irish Dominican Province, professed in September 2017 and ordained in 2005. He has qualifications in Music (BA Hons/MMus), Philosophy (BPh Hons), Theology (BD Hons) and Canon Law (JCL), having studied in Maynooth, Derry and Rome, as well as a unit of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education).
fr Peter has worked in parish ministry, chaplaincy in schools and hospital chaplaincy and served on the Board of Governors of three schools. He has facilitated retreats and adult faith formation. Most recently, among other pastoral ministries, he was the Judicial Vicar of Derry Diocese and a Presiding Judge of the Armagh Regional Marriage Tribunal. He is a former council member and Registrar of the Irish Church Music Association. Presently he is a member of the Canon Law Society of Great Britain and Ireland and the Association of Healthcare Chaplains Ireland. fr Peter’s academic interests are ecclesiology, liturgy, medieval music, education and the interplay between faith and creativity. He has published homilies and reflections in the Furrow and Intercom. Presently he is course leader for the BA in Theology.
